Pilot Study Update

Entrepreneurism is all about the unexpected twists and turns and the way you handle them. It's been a very busy time, pivoting and re-planning constantly! After a lengthy ordeal obtaining our shipment of stove parts from customs, we finally received our parts. We want to give a special thanks and our utmost gratitude to Jocelyn C. Caraig, Levy Balderas, Francis Uy, Eduardo Gatab, and the staff at UPS Cebu for going above and beyond their call of duty and delivering our package to us in as timely a manner as possible.

Even though we were unable to execute exactly according to plan, our pilot study is still moving forward and taking off! The families have been very excited with the arrival of their stoves and have been using them.

So far we've received a lot of positive feedback on the ease of use, its charging capability (it's quite fast), and it's ability to cook meals with virtually no smoke. People like the height and the fact that they can move the stove around when they want (as opposed to their dedicated cooking area. Everyone has been very grateful that they no longer have to endure tear-inducing smoke. They especially like the fact that they use less wood and no longer have to pay 10 Phililppine pesos (approximately $0.23) to charge their phones every time. It may not seem much, but it has really made a difference in their lives.

The typical cooking area - smoky and inefficient.
Things are looking good as we continue with our pilot study. Everyday is a learning experience, and we look forward to the feedback we receive to improve KleanCook and make it the best it can be.

KleanCook Assembly
Mark is preparing one of the components of our stove, which is to help convert the heat into electricity in the KleanCook.
We went through a tough, yet exciting, journey of assembling the KleanCook, and now it’s almost ready for distribution for our pilot study in the Philippines!

We’ll be able to carry out our CGI U Commitment to Action by providing 10 stoves to 10 families, so keep a lookout for updates on our progress.

Thanks to some help from Jacqueline's cousin, the manual assembly of the stove is almost complete for distribution!
