After assembling the stove, we foraged for wood around the area. The trees here are always cut and left on the ground for some time before being disposed. We were lucky to find nicely-sized oak logs. However, each one was extremely heavy. I believe many people fail to understand how heavy each of these "mini" logs was, and how much effort it takes to transport just one, let alone multiple "mini" logs. We have a better appreciation for how people around collect their wood and how much they can really collect in one day.

We propped our stove on some bricks to let in air since we haven't installed the air flow openings yet. Even if the air flow wasn't as optimal, the fire was raging without much fuel. KleanCook actually looks the part of a "rocket stove".

Assembling the first stove.

We're assembling the first cook stove! It's so difficult to bend sheet metal.

Assembly is very basic and easy. If you're not Jacqueline, you can just bend the metal and rivet the two sides together, then rivet all of the components together.  The cook stove is very solid and appears to be durable.

In the back is our cardboard mock-up (below), which we created before we sent out the details to the manufacturer. The resemblance is striking. Not that we doubted that the final stove would look our cardboard mock-up, but that it's astounding to see the stove come to life from flat drawings.
